Bats host Dog Day and Corky Miller T-shirt giveaway

April 21, 2014

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats will return from their brief road trip to Indianapolis and begin a four-game series with the Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, at Louisville Slugger Field on Tuesday, April 22. Each game will start at 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday will serve as the Bats' first of two Dog Days during the 2014 season. Dogs may enter through the Witherspoon or Jackson entrances with a $3 donation to the Kentucky Humane Society and the first 500 dogs will receive a special doggie bag. Dog owners' tickets are just $7. The second Dog Day of 2014 will be Tuesday, June 17. More information on Dog Days can be found at batsbaseball.com. One-dollar hot dogs and Pepsi products will also be served all night long on Tuesday.

On Thursday, fans will be able to enjoy $1 Bud and Bud Light drafts at the $1 Budweiser Beer Happy Hour on the Overlook Deck from 5:30 to 7 p.m. along with live music from the Logan Street Band.

Friday, the Bats will be giving away Corky Miller "#FearTheStache" T-shirts to the first 1,500 fans 13-and-over through the gates. Also on Friday, there will be a postgame performance by hand-balancing act Christian and Scooby before the regular Friday fireworks show.

The Bats are 9-7 on the season entering tonight's series finale with the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field. Louisville has taken three of the first five games in the six-game set from the division-leading Indy. Infielder Rubén Gotay has been one of the hottest hitters in the International League to start the season and currently leads the team in hitting, runs scored, doubles, home runs, RBI and total bases. Closer José "Jumbo" Díaz is continuing the roll he was on to finish last year and is tied for second in the IL with four saves in five scoreless appearances.

The Bats have averaged 8,979 fans per game at Louisville Slugger Field since its opening in 2000 and have totaled over 8.8 million fans through 14 seasons. Tickets for all regular season games are available. The entire 2014 Bats schedule, including updated promotions and special events, can be found at batsbaseball.com.
