Shorebirds Unveil 2016 Special Jerseys

March 30, 2016

While we wait for the Shorebirds' 2016 roster to be released, there are some other details we can announce.

After all, the second most important thing in Minor League Baseball besides the roster is what the players and coaches will be wearing. Let's take a look at the threads fans can expect to see at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in 2016.

The Usual Suspects

Delmarva will be sporting a familiar look most nights, as the home white, road gray and black alternate jerseys will remain virtually unchanged.

The Shorebirds will be selling replica white jerseys in the Flock Shop this season, and fans will be able to get them personalized with the name and number of their choosing. Fans will also be able to purchase the game-worn versions of these jerseys at the end of the season.

Paint it Orange

A new wrinkle to the Shorebirds' schedule will take place every Friday home game this season. Delmarva is proud to bring an orange jersey back to the team's arsenal as a part of Orange Fridays. Those with a good memory may remember the team previously wearing orange batting practice jerseys, as this marks the first time since the team's rebrand in 2010 that an orange jersey will be worn on the field.

All fans are also encouraged to don orange on Fridays to match the team.

The top features a 'Delmarva' script with a never-before used Shorebirds alternate logo perched on the lettering.

If you'd like to get your hands on one of these jerseys, you'll want to be in attendance for our final Friday home game of 2016 on Sept. 2. We'll be holding a silent auction for all of the game-worn orange tops from the season. Winners will receive the jerseys on the field from the players after that night's contest.

Pink Pitch Night Returns May 14

A tradition on the calendar every season, the Shorebirds will be holding PRMC Pink Pitch Night on Saturday, May 14.

This year's jersey design features a white top with a pink shoulder and sleeve panel. Another feature will be pink pinstripes that certainly make these pop.

An in-game silent auction for these jerseys will be held that night to benefit the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute.

An Independence Day Classic

The Shorebirds will be turning back the clock for this year's 4th of July game with vintage cream colored tops.

There will still be plenty of patriotism on display, as the Shorebirds script and jersey numbers will feature a stars and stripes fill. The seals for all five branches of the U.S. military will be on display above the numbers on the back.

An in-game silent auction will be held for these game-worn threads, which will benefit the VFW's Military Assistance Program and Support Our Troops.

Christmas in July Jerseys Still Under Wraps

Last year, the Shorebirds debuted an insanely successful Christmas in July jersey that finished in the Top 10 of MiLB.com's Jersey Joust and was featured by Sports Illustrated.

Due to popular demand, Delmarva will again wear special Christmas in July jerseys for its game on Saturday, July 23. The design is still being finalized, but let's just say the ideas thrown around may top last year's.

No matter what they look like, the Shorebirds will be auctioning them off to benefit the Shorebirds Community Fund as a part of Community Fund Weekend.
