FRISCO – Jax Biggers and Matt Whatley, batting eighth and ninth in the Riders lineup, teamed for five RBIs while six pitchers held the Hooks to five hits in an 8-3 Frisco win Thursday night at Riders Field.

The Hooks, who now lead the series 2-1, had their winning streak snapped at three games.

Corpus Christi enjoyed an early 2-0 lead thanks to home runs by Justin Dirden and Will Wagner in the first and second, respectively.

Wagner, who has hit safely in four consecutive games, plated the third CC run with a single into center in the fourth, chasing home Dirden from second base.

With the contest level at 3, Cody Deason exited the game after four innings of work in favor of Jimmy Endersby. Frisco pounced on Endersby for four runs in the fifth to take a 7-3 advantage. Three of the runs came after a Biggers slow-roller bounced off the bag at second and kicked into left field, away from shortstop Edwin Díaz who was closing in on the third out.

Grant Anderson, Grant Wolfram, Marc Church and Fer Ozuna blanked the Hooks over the final five innings. CC managed just one hit past the fourth.

The Hooks, who have won 10 of their last 13 games, send Adrian Chaidez to the mound on Friday night. First pitch 7:05.
