Beloit Wins Extra Innings Affair in Peoria

Peoria, IL - After a day where offense was scarce, the bats definitely woke up on Tuesday night for both the Snappers and the Chiefs as Beloit defeated Peoria by a score of 6-5. The Snappers totaled 6 runs on 8 hits, while getting 7 scoreless innings from the bullpen in the victory.

Peoria would get the scoring started in the game, plating a run in the first inning to take the early lead. However, it would not be until the third inning before the see-saw contest would really pick up.
In the third, the Snappers would not only get on the scoreboard, but plate 3 runs to take the 3-1 lead. It would not come easy though, as Beloit would have to channel a little two-out magic to push some runs across the plate.
After a walk each from Marcos Brito and Lester Madden, Payton Squier would double with two outs to plate both Madden and Brito and give the Snappers the lead. One batter later, Anthony Churlin would trade places with Squier giving the Snappers the 3-1 lead.
Unfortunately, the lead would not last long, as Peoria would score 3 runs in the bottom of the third to retake the lead. The Snappers would not be held down though, plating another run in the fourth to even the game at 4 in the fourth inning.
In the fourth, the Snappers would bust out the longball getting a massive solo shot from catcher, John Jones. Jones' home run was his third homer of the season, which leads the team.
The tie though was short lived, as Peoria would get a run in the bottom of the fourth to take the 5-4 lead, but the Snappers were able to answer back in the eighth inning.
In the eighth, Beloit loaded the bases with two outs in the inning and were able to muster up a little more two-out magic. After a strikeout with one out, Madden would now step up to the plate and earn the four pitch walk to plate Devin Foyle and tie the game at five which would remain until extra innings.
The game would head to the tenth, where both teams would fail to score after having a runner on second to start the inning due to Minor League Baseball extra-innings rules. It would not be until the eleventh inning, where the scoring would begin, this time in favor of Beloit.
In the eleventh, Lester Madden would single to start the inning putting runners on first and third with no outs. Just one batter later, Cobie Vance would ground into a double play, but plate Brito for a run and the only run the Snappers would need.
After throwing one scoreless frame of relief already, Charlie Cerny would strand Chiefs on first and third to slam the door shut and secure the victory. The win was Cerny's first as a Snapper and well deserved after going two innings, striking out five, allowing no hits, and no runs.  
The bullpen was great all game starting with Michael Danielak who was first out of the pen and was terrific throwing two innings, striking out 5, and giving up no runs. Wandisson Charles would enter second and would follow up with more of the same, throwing another strong three innings, striking out 5 and giving up no runs.
The win improves the Snappers to 12-22, while the loss drops Peoria to 16-19 on the season. These two teams will lock up tomorrow in a doubleheader starting tomorrow at 11:05 A.M. from Peoria in the final games of this series.
After the doubleheader, Beloit will be back in town to open up a 9-game homestand in Beloit starting on Thursday. The Snappers will take on Kane County for the first time this weekend with Bark in the Park, Princesses and Superheroes Day, and a couple of school family nights headlining the weekend.
