Jacksonville got on the board first in the first as DH Joey Wendle led off the inning with a solo shot for the early advantage. In the following inning, 3B Tristan Gray used an RBI single to even the score and, in the following at bat, LF Cal Stevenson used a two-run single of his own to give Durham the 3-1 lead. 2B Miles Mastrobuoni gave the Bulls their third RBI of the inning on a ground out, while CF Ryan Boldt's RBI single rounded out the five-run frame.

The Jumbo Shrimp would chip away at the deficit in the second inning as RF JJ Bleday reached the plate on a Bulls error to cut the lead to 5-2. In the seventh, Gray would later do more damage at the plate, as he tattooed a solo shot for his 15th homer of the year.

Bulls pitcher Luis Patino picked up the win after five innings of work, allowing two runs on six hits and ringing up seven strikeouts. Jacksonville starting pitcher Will Stewart picked up the loss.

The Bulls will be back in action on Tuesday as they start a six-game set on the road against the Charlotte Knights. Pitchers for both teams are yet to be determined, with first pitch scheduled for 11:05am.

Following their 12-game road trip, Durham returns home on Monday, July 4 to start a six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch of that contest is set for 6:35 pm.
