Bulls shortstop Tristan Gray crushed a home run in his second straight game, with left fielder Josh Lowe and center fielder Ryan Boldt adding longballs of their own, while right-hander Chris Archer struck out four over three innings and right fielder Manuel Margot drove in a run as part of their respective Major League Rehab Assignments in Durham’s 5-3 win over the Charlotte Knights on Thursday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

After the Knights plated a score in the top of the first, the Bulls would answer in the third courtesy of Gray’s big fly, his fifth of the year and second in as many games. Margot would then drive in the go-ahead run with an RBI single to right in the fifth as part of a two-run fifth frame. Charlotte’s single tally in the seventh cut Durham’s advantage to one, however Lowe and Boldt would later leave the yard with solo blasts in the eighth to extend the margin to 5-2 before the Knights would add their final run in the ninth.

Gray (2-3, R, HR, RBI, BB) for the second straight evening was the lone Bulls batter to bash two hits, including a longball. Durham has crushed roundtrippers in 26 of their last 31 matchups dating back to June 16. The win was the Bulls’ 12th triumph in 15 tilts versus Charlotte this season.

Archer (3.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 4 K) fanned four batters over three frames in his second start with Durham as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment. Bulls southpaw Adam Conley (2.0 IP, BB, 5 K) earned his second victory with two scoreless frames, while Joey Krehbiel (1.0 IP, H, R, ER, K) notched his first save. Charlotte starter Alex McRae (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K) suffered the defeat.

The two teams are set to face off in the fourth game of their series on Friday evening, with first pitch slated for 6:35pm ET. RHP Chris Ellis (0-2, 7.13) is anticipated to get the ball for Durham, while RHP Mike Wright (5-3, 3.33) is expected to toe the rubber for Charlotte. Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining Bulls home games are available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
