LANCASTER, Calif. - Luis Castro hit the first walk-off home run of the season for Lancaster as the JetHawks beat Rancho Cucamonga, 6-3, at The Hangar Tuesday night. Lancaster is just one game back of first place in the South Division with the victory.
With the game tied, 3-3, Lancaster (22-17) put two men on base against Rancho's Jordan Sheffield (2-2) in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Quakes turned to Logan Salow, who struck out Carlos Herrera but could not retire Luis Castro. Castro turned on a pitch, hitting a three-run walk-off home run over the fence in left field.

The home run was the sixth of the season for Castro, and his second in as many nights. He finished the night 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. It was the first walk-off home run of the season for the JetHawks.
Rancho Cucamonga (23-16) rallied from behind to tie the game twice Tuesday. In the top of the eighth, Marcus Chiu knotted the score up with a two-run home run off of Salvador Justo. Justo (1-0) rebounded, getting four more outs and earning the win.
Lancaster took an early lead on Casey Golden's RBI single in the first inning. That was almost enough for Ryan Rolison, who was splendid again for the JetHawks. Colorado's first-round pick in 2018 struck out eight and allowed just three hits in six innings.
The run he allowed came in the sixth inning, tying the game. But the JetHawks answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Ryan Vilade and Matt McLaughlin drove in runs to put Rolison in line for the win.
The JetHawks have won five of their first six games against Rancho Cucamonga in 2019. Lancaster is one game back in the standings, and they still have eight more games versus the Quakes in the First Half.
Game three of the four-game set is Wednesday night at The Hangar. Lancaster has not announced a starter. Michael Grove (0-1) will pitch for the Quakes. First pitch is 6:35 pm.
