Celebrate Title IX with the Bourque Sisters!

On Tuesday, June 28th, Come meet two of Maine's top female athletes, Kaylyn and Alyssa Bourque from Benton, Maine!

Kaylyn Bourque, age 15, was the top goal scorer in the state this season with 33 goals this season for the Winslow/Gardiner/Brewer/Messalonskee/Lawrence/Erskine Academy Black Tigers ice hockey team. She was a 1st Team KVAC All-Star and was selected to the New England District All-Star team. With 50 goals, she was also one of the top goal scorers in girls’ lacrosse for Lawrence High School.

Alyssa Bourque, age 19, recently completed her freshman year as a javelin thrower on the track & field team at the University of Vermont. She is also a brand ambassador for SEAAV, an athletic clothing company that creates athlete apparel from recycled materials.

Both Kaylyn and Alyssa are proud Pliable athletes and trailblazers in women’s sports. They are both involved in Pliable’s Mission E50, an initiative to increase the popularity of women’s' sports.

Join the Sea Dogs and the Bourque sisters in celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX at the game. The Bourque sisters will throw out the first pitch, meet fans and sign autographs on the concourse during the game. The Sea Dogs host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:00 PM.

June marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, a federal civil rights law that was passed in the U.S. as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government.
