LAKEWOOD, NJ - Tyreque Reed had two hits including a home run and drove in three as Hickory topped the BlueClaws 6-2 on Wednseday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.
The teams have now split the first two games in their three game series after Lakewood's (7-12/36-53) win Tuesday. Hickory (13-7/54-32) has won six of the 10 meetings between the teams this year.
Hickory jumped out a 3-0 lead off Kevin Gowdy in the opening frame, getting an RBI double from Sherten Apostel, an RBI single from Reed, and an RBI single from Ryan Anderson. They added two on a Reed long ball in the fourth. It was Reed's fifth home run with Hickory this year, all coming since his activation on June 20th.
Gowdy (0-4) was charged with five runs over three innings, allowing six hits and two walks with no strikeouts. James McArthur threw four scoreless innings in relief, allowing just two hits for the BlueClaws. 
Crawdads starter Jesus Linarez gave up two runs on seven hits in four innings and did not factor in the decision. Hickory's bullpen got five scoreless innings, three from Nick Snyder (2-1) and two from Kelvin Gonzalez.
Both Lakewood runs came on RBI singles from BenPelletier, one in the second inning and one in the fourth. Pelletier went 2-3 with a pair of RBIs in the game for Lakewood.
Malvin Matos also had two hits in the loss.
The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Tyler McKay (3-4) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Abdiel Mendoza (2-0).
