Dodgers Play Spoiler with 9-4 Win

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers defeated the Iowa Cubs with a 9-4 victory Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The two teams split the four-game series, 2-2, but Iowa took the season series, winning nine of 16 games against Oklahoma City.

A Cubs victory or a Memphis Redbirds loss in New Orleans would have clinched the American Northern Division for Iowa, but Memphis won, 8-5, to fend off elimination.
The Dodgers crossed three runs in each the fourth and fifth innings to take a mid-game lead and help secure the victory, with six different Dodgers notching a RBI in the game.
Oklahoma City starting pitcher Justin DeFratus tossed a commanding 6.2 innings, his longest outing for OKC since throwing 7.0 innings May 29 in a win against Omaha.
The Cubs (72-64) struck first as P.J. Higgins knocked in a run with a RBI single to center field in the second inning to give Iowa a 1-0 lead.
Robel Garcia added on two more runs for the Cubs in the top of the third with a bases-loaded single to right field to extend the Iowa lead to 3-0.
The Dodgers (61-74) evened the score in the bottom of the fourth. DJ Peters doubled in two runs, followed by a Zach McKinstry RBI single to tie the game at three.
Oklahoma City took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Austin Barnes doubled in a run to give the Dodgers their first lead, 4-3. Edwin Ríos followed with a two-run home run to put the Dodgers ahead, 6-3.
Ríos' home run was his 30th of the season, as he became the first Oklahoma City player to eclipse the 30-home run mark since Mike Hessman hit 35 homers during the 2012 season.
Iowa's last comeback effort of the game came when Dixon Machado grounded out to shortstop, scoring a run in the top of the seventh to cut the Oklahoma City lead to 6-4.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Oklahoma City drew four walks, two hit-by-pitches and a wild pitch before an out was recorded in the bottom of the seventh to give Oklahoma City its largest lead of the game, 9-4.
Peters led the Dodgers with a 3-for-3, two-RBI performance while Ríos hit a home run and scored three times. Barnes also scored three runs for OKC.
DeFratus (3-5) earned the win for Oklahoma City with 6.2 innings pitched, allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
PCL Pitcher of the Year Colin Rea (14-4) took the loss for the Iowa, allowing six runs on seven hits over 6.0 innings with three walks and five strikeouts.
The OKC Dodgers continue their final homestand of the season and open a four-game series against the New Orleans Baby Cakes at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Friday night also kicks off Fan Appreciation Weekend with the OKC Dodgers.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Friday and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Dodgers hat. Select players will be available for pregame autographs and the OKC Disc Dogs will perform on the field throughout the night. Friday Night Fireworks, presented by Supermercados Morelos, are scheduled to follow the game.
The final INTEGRIS "Home Run For Life" honoree of the season will be recognized following the third inning and fans will have the opportunity to bid on game-used, game-worn and autographed Dodgers memorabilia during the Clubhouse Collectibles silent auction, presented by The Oklahoman.
