The Greenville Drive lost the six-game series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods 1-5. The final game ended with the Hot Rods on top with a final score of 9-5. The Drive wasted no time as Joe Davis got things rolling in Greenville with an RBI bringing home Tyler McDonough

The Greenville Drive lost the six-game series with the Bowling Green Hot Rods 1-5. The final game ended with the Hot Rods on top with a final score of 9-5.

The Drive wasted no time as Joe Davis got things rolling in Greenville with an RBI bringing home Tyler McDonough in the first.

Drive pitcher Yusniel Padron-Artiles did not allow any runs the first four innings and struck out six batters from the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Bowling Green dominated the fifth inning as they scored six runs to take the lead. Heriberto Hernandez hit an RBI single to start things off with players Nate Soria and Michael Berglund also batting more players in. The Hot Rods topped the inning off with a homer from Alika Williams making their lead 6-1 over the Drive.

Greenville was in desperate need of some runs, and player Niko Kavadas was able to provide as he batted in Nicholas Northcut at the bottom of the sixth to shorten the Hot Rods’ lead by one run.

Alex Erro also helped with a run for the Drive in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a sacrifice fly by Matthew Lugo. The seventh inning ended with Bowling Green still on top 6-3.

The game was getting further out of Greenville’s reach as Williams hit his second home run of the game in the top of the eighth extending the Hot Rod’s lead by another run.

Kavadas was able to score one last run after a passed ball from Hot Rods catcher Berglund, however Bowling Green was too far ahead after Berglund finished the game off with a hit out of the park. The Hot Rods finished their winning series off with a final score of 9-4.

Matthew Lugo put in the effort to come back as he slammed a triple to put another run on the board for Greenville. However, the Hot Rods were too far ahead as they finished their winning series off with a final score of 9-5.
