Durham sets new home run season high in win over Louisville

The Durham Bulls (33-30) defeated the Louisville Bats (23-39) 10-2 on Thursday to regain the 2-1 advantage in the six-game set at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. In the win, Durham hit seven home runs, setting a new season-high.

After a scoreless first, LF Trey Amburgey went yard on a two-run shot for Louisville in the second. In the third, DH David Rodriguez would get the Bulls going on a solo shot, and the team would not look back. In the fourth, RF Luke Raley went yard for the second consecutive game on a two-run shot to put Durham up 3-2 and Rodriguez went the distance again later that inning on another two-run bomb.

In the fifth, Bulls SS Miles Mastrobuoni joined the home run party as he ignited a solo shot and two batters later, LF Josh Lowe added his name to the home run column with another solo shot for the 7-2 lead. In the sixth, 3B Jonathan Aranda would give Durham their sixth homer of the night before CF Jordan Qsar took his turn rounding the bases on the team’s fifth solo shot and seventh home-run for a new season-high in the eighth.

Durham relief pitcher Chris Mazza picked up the win after throwing three innings, allowing one hit and ringing up four strikeouts. Louisville starter Justin Nicolino picked up the loss.

The Bulls and Bats will be back in action at the DBAP on Friday for game four of the series, and first pitch is slated for 6:35 pm. LHP Josh Fleming (6-0, 0.98) is expected to start for Durham and RHP Ben Lively (2-4, 3.51) is scheduled to start for Louisville.
