Four-Run Seventh Inning Leads Drillers Past Cards

<st1:city w:st="on">SPRINGFIELD, MO - Just one day after falling victim to a six-run, ninth-inning rally in a loss to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Arkansas, the Tulsa Drillers staged a late rally of their own Monday night. In the opening game of a three-game series in Springfield, the Drillers rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh, turning a one-run deficit into a 5-2 win. The victory snapped <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Tulsa's three-game losing streak.
Trailing 2-1, the Drillers big inning began with a base hit by Gavin Lux. A walk to DJ Peters and another hit by Cristian Santana loaded the bases. After a walk to Cody Thomas forced in the tying run, Keibert Ruiz plated the go-ahead run with a base hit. Chris Parmalee upped the lead to 5-2 when he lined a double into the right field corner, scoring Santana and Thomas.
The <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Tulsa bullpen was outstanding as four relievers combined to work five scoreless innings. Chris Nunn and Yordy Cabrera each worked a scoreless frame, and Nolan Long did not allow a hit or a walk while holding the Cards scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings.  
Layne Somsen worked around a one-out double in the bottom of the ninth to gain his third save of the season.
WHAT YOU MISSED
Tulsa starting pitcher Michael Bowden worked the first four innings, surrendering two runs, only one earned, on five hits. He did not issue a walk while recording three strikeouts. Bowden has pitched in 103 major league games, primarily as a reliever, with the Cubs and Red Sox.
Cabrera was credited with the win, his first of the season.
Thomas gave <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Tulsa an early lead when he singled home Peters in the top of the first inning. His two runs batted in gave him 33 for the season, tops in the Texas League.
The Cardinals quickly tied the score when Irving Lopez led off the bottom of the first inning with a double, then scored on an errant pickoff attempt from Bowden. They took the lead in the second on a run-scoring hit by José Godoy that scored Randy Arozarena who had doubled.
*The win moved <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Tulsa back over the .500 mark with a 21-20 record.
