The Fresno Tacos (23-20) took three of four from the Albuquerque Isotopes (27-25) with an 8-2 win on Taco Tuesday. The victory extended Fresno's winning streak to three games, tying their longest such streak of the season and at home for the third time in 2017.
Derek Fisher crushed his team-leading 13th home run of the season in the first inning to give the Tacos an early 2-0 lead. The two-run bomb to center went a distance of 441 feet to score Tony Kemp (3-for-5) who doubled to get on. It was Fisher's third homer in as many games, the longest hit at Chukchansi park this season.
In the second frame, Preston Tucker (2-for-4) blasted his ninth long ball of the season, a solo shot to right, to make the score 3-0. The Tacos increased their lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a Kemp RBI single. Max Stassi reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on a wild pitch to score on the hit.
Also in the fifth, Juan Centeno (2-for-4) extended his hit streak to 19 games, the longest such streak in the Astros affiliation era, passing Joe Sclafani (2015). Centeno has hit safely in 22 of 24 games while batting .372 (32-for-86) on the season with a triple, seven doubles, nine RBI, seven runs scored and five walks. Including the two home runs Centeno hit in as many games while up with the Astros on May 23 and May 25, he has a hit in 21 consecutive games.
The Isotopes cut the Tacos lead to 4-2 in the sixth. Jordan Patterson hit into a RBI groundout to score Derrik Gibson who walked, and Anthony Bemboom (2-for-3) hit a RBI single to score Mike Tauchman (2-for-4) who singled.
The Tacos increased their lead over the Isotopes to 6-2 in the seventh. Kemp hit a RBI triple to score Stassi who walked to get on, followed by a Tyler White RBI single that scored Kemp. The triple put Kemp a home run shy of the cycle on the night.
Tucker became the first batter to knock two homers in a game for Fresno this season with a two-run shot to left in the eighth inning. His 10th of 2017 scored Colin Moran who singled to get on. The home run put the Tacos ahead of the Isotopes 8-2 for the win.
Fresno starter Mike Hauschild (1-1) went six innings for his first win of the season. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts for the third straight quality start from Fresno pitchers.
Albuquerque starter Matt Flemer (2-4) suffered the loss in sixth innings pitched, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Fresno continues an eight game homestand on Thursday with a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers. Probable starters are RHP Rob Whalen (0-2, 4.09) for Tacoma and RHP Francis Martes (0-2, 4.55) for Fresno. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
