FAYETTEVILLE, NC - On a damp Thursday night at Segra Stadium, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (13-18) and Down East Wood Ducks (19-12) started play before getting suspended due to rain in the bottom of the second inning. The Woodpeckers fell behind early 5-0 prior to a lightning flash that forced the teams off the field.

Jayson Schroeder pitched a scoreless first but walked four Down East hitters in the second, including Jayce Easley with the bases loaded. Ernesto Jaquez inherited the bases loaded jam out of the bullpen, and gave up a double down the right field line to Evan Carter. All three runners scored to vault the Wood Ducks ahead 5-0.

In the bottom of the second, Justin Dirden reached base on a single before play was ultimately suspended.

Play will resume in the bottom of the second inning on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET, with a seven-inning game to be played after the completion of the suspended contest. Fans with a ticket to tonight’s game can exchange their ticket at the box office for any future Woodpeckers game, excluding blackout dates.
