April 27, 2015

EL PASO (APRIL 27)- The Bees earned their sixth win in their last seven games, as Salt Lake downed the El Paso Chihuahuas 5-1 on Monday night. The Bees grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Ryan Wheeler and a sacrifice fly by Gary Brown. Salt Lake would add two more runs in the third on back-to-back run scoring singles by Efren Navarro and Josh Rutledge, who would close out the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Salt Lake starter Adam Wilk (1-0) went six and two-third innings and allowed just one run on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks. The only run that Wilk surrendered came on a leadoff home run by Alex Dickerson in the fifth, which ended Wilk's fifteen inning scoreless streak to open the season. Three Bees' relievers; Zach Stewart, Atahualpa Severino and Ryan Mattheus combined to throw two and two-third shutout innings to close out the game. Carlos Perez, Daniel Robertson and Navarro each had two hits to lead Salt Lake.

The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on Monday, May 4 for an eight-game homestand against the Tacoma Rainiers and Reno Aces. Promotions during the homestand include Teacher Appreciation Night (May 5), a Bees socks giveaway (May 8), Pack the Park Pink (May 9) and Prevention Dimension Kid's Day (May 11).
