May 17, 2015

DURHAM, NC - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders completed the four-game sweep of the Durham Bulls Sunday afternoon, earning a 5-0 win at the DBAP.

Four RailRiders pitchers combined to shut out Durham - which was blanked for the third time this season - as LHP Miguel Sulbaran (1-0) earned the win in his Triple-A debut by tossing five innings and scattering five hits and two walks. Three relievers combined for four hitless innings out of the bullpen to preserve the shutout.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (20-18) opened the scoring early, as with two outs in the first inning Rob Refsnyder drilled a solo homer over the Blue Monster for a 1-0 lead. In the second with two outs and nobody on Rob Segedin doubled and then scored when Nick Noonan singled to rightfield.

The visitors used the long ball again in the fifth, when Refsnyder hit a two-run homer off the left-field foul pole, before Kyle Roller homered on the very next pitch to take a 5-0 lead.

Southpaw Everett Teaford (2-3) took the loss for Durham, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings. Jose Dominguez, Jordan Norberto and Andy Oliver combined to hold the RailRiders scoreless over the game's final four frames.

The Bulls hit the road for an eight-game, seven-day road trip Monday when they open up a four-game series in Rochester. Durham sends RHP Matt Buschmann (3-2, 3.38) to the hill opposite LHP Tommy Milone (2-0, 0.00) for the Red Wings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Frontier Field.
