Black Bears Unveil Inauguaral Season Uniforms, On-Field Caps

May 18, 2015

GRANVILLE, W.Va. (May 18) - With the start of a new era of baseball in North-Central West Virginia just 32 days away, the West Virginia Black Bears today unveiled the exciting new uniforms and on-field caps the team will wear for its inaugural season at Monongalia County Ballpark.

The Black Bears will take the field for the first time on Opening Day, Friday, June 19 against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (7:05 p.m.).

The Black Bears' new on-field team caps represent the state of West Virginia with enhancements to the look of the fan-favorite primary logo. The home and road cap is a coal black base with a sky blue bill, featuring a WV outlined in sky blue and sunrise gold. The alternate cap features the Black Bears' head, from the team's primary logo, on a coal black base with a sunrise gold bill.

The team's uniforms for the inaugural season feature a classic look that match the on-field team caps. For home games, the team will wear an all-white uniform with the "Black Bears" script, from the primary logo, across the chest. On the road, the club will wear an all-grey uniform with "West Virginia" across the chest, featuring the same font as the "Black Bears" on the home uniforms. The team also unveiled its alternate top for various home and road occasions, which is a coal black jersey with "Black Bears" across the chest.

"It was important for us to establish our team identity with the state of West Virginia. Our fans have expressed their fondness of the black, gold and blue colors from the Mountaineers and the Black Bears' parent club, the Pittsburgh Pirates. We feel that the new uniforms and on-field caps not only pay tribute to the people and heritage of the state of West Virginia but also gives the team an exciting and modern look," said Matthew Drayer, General Manager of the West Virginia Black Bears.

The new Black Bears on-field caps will be exclusively available at the Bear's Den Team Shop, located at Monongalia County Ballpark. The team shop is located just inside Gate B and has operating hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online orders for the new caps and team jerseys are expected to be available on June 1 on the official website of the Black Bears.
