Hooks take series finale 4-2 on Sunday

Down 2-1 in the fifth, Corpus Christi scored three-straight runs to win the deciding game on Sunday at Dickey-Stephens Park.

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers fell 4-2 to the Corpus Christi Hooks on Sunday afternoon at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The Travs took a 2-1 lead to the fifth, but the Hooks scored once in the fifth to tie the game and twice in the sixth to take the lead for good.

Trailing 1-0, Arkansas utilized three straight hits to start the third inning to plate its two runs. 2B Sherman Johnson started the frame off with a single to right and SS Eric Stamets lined a double down the left field line to put runners on second and third. RF Cal Towey then hit a single to left to tie the game 1-1, and a 1B Brian Hernandez double play scored the Stamets to give the Travelers the lead.

Arkansas used five pitchers in the loss.

RHP Michael Brady made his second straight start after appearing out of the bullpen in his first 13 outings. Brady, who worked three perfect innings with six strikeouts in his first start, allowed a run on four hits over three innings with no walks and two strikeouts.

RHP Austin Wood surrendered a run on four hits with a walk over two innings.

RHP Austin Adams (L, 0-1) allowed both runs in the sixth in two-thirds of an inning.

RHP Nate Hyatt (2.1 IP) and RHP Eduard Santos (IP) finished the game without allowing a run or hit.

RHP Mike Hauschild (W, 4-1) tossed six innings for Corpus Christi and allowed the two runs on three hits with three walks and a strike out. LHP Josh Hader (S, 1) pitched the final three innings and did not allow a run on just one hit. Hauschild and Hader combined to retire 14 Travs in a row from the fourth to the ninth.

Arkansas finished 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

With the loss, the Travs fell to 28-21 on the season and 3.5 games behind the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the Texas League North standings.

The Travelers will enjoy a day off on Monday before beginning a six-game road trip in San Antonio on Tuesday. Arkansas will take on the Missions for three and then head to Corpus Christi for three. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
