Wade Wass homers in Bees' loss to Kernels

(Cedar Rapids-IA)- Justin Anderson tossed six innings, allowing just two runs, but it wasn't enough as the Bees' lost, 2-1 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Tuesday night in Cedar Rapids.

Wade Wass gave the Bees a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, hitting his third home run of the season, a solo shot to left, putting the Bees on top.

The Bees threatened again in the top of the eighth inning, loading the bases with one out, Reliever Luke Bard struck out Andrew Daniel and got Natanael Delgado to ground out, keeping the score at 1-0.

Jorge Fernandez led of the bottom of the eighth with a single and moved to second when T.J. White walked. With one out, Brian Navaretto singled loading the bases. Eduardo Paredes came on from the bullpen and walked back-to-back hitters, giving Cedar Rapids a 2-1 lead. Closer Trevor Hildenberger came on from the bullpen and retired the Bees in order in the ninth.

Luke Bard (4-0) picked up the win for the Kernels while Justin Anderson was charged with the loss. The Bees and Kernels continue the series Wednesday nigh at 6:35. Michael Bolaski starts for the Bees against Ethan Mildren for Cedar Rapids.
