RHP Johnny Hellweg Added from Advanced-A Brevard County

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster move that affects the Shuckers roster prior to tonight's 5:35 pm contest with the Montgomery Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium.

Johnny Hellweg, 26, made five starts with the Brevard County Manatees, going 0-3 with a 9.00 (15 ER/15 IP) adding nine strikeouts and eight walks. The St. Charles, MO native entered 2015 as the 15th-best prospect in the organization according to MLB.com. In 2014, he went 1-2 with a 4.95 ERA in four starts at Triple-A Nashville He was placed on Nashville's disabled list on April 21 and underwent season-ending "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow on April 29, performed by Dr. James Andrews.

In 2013, Hellweg was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year after going 12-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 23 starts at Triple-A Nashville.....was also named Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He was tied for second in the Pacific Coast League in wins (12) and ERA (3.15) while leading the league in opponent batting average (.228). During a stretch from 5/16-7/30, he produced a stretch with Nashville during which he went 9-0 with a 1.16 ERA over 10 starts (8 ER/ 62.0 IP). Hellweg had a pair of stints with the Brewers (6/26-7/10 and 9/3-end) going 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA in eight games (seven starts) with the Brewers.

Hellweg made his Major League debut on June 28, 2013 at Pittsburgh and took a 10-3 loss. He tossed a perfect first inning before the Pirates' seven-run second inning (1.2ip, 6h, 7r, 5er, 2bb, 1k). His first career strikeout was Russell Martin. He earned his first Major League win and recorded his only quality start with the Brewers in a 5-3 victory on September 7, 2013 at Chicago-NL (6ip, 4h, 3r, 3er, 3bb, 1k, 2hr, 1hbp).

The 6-7 hurler was acquired by the Brewers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, along with SS Jean Segura and RHP Ariel Peña, in exchange for RHP Zack Greinke on July 27, 2012. He was originally selected by the Angels in the 16th round of the draft. The righty made seven appearances, two starts For Double-A Huntsville in 2012, going 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA, logging 17 strikeouts and 15 walks.

The Shuckers take on the Montgomery Biscuits in game two of the five-game set (0-1) and 10-game road trip LHP Brent Suter (4-3, 1.88) will face off against Montgomery's RHP Jaime Schultz (5-4, 3.62).
