Star Wars Night Highlights The Blue Rocks Longest Home Stand Since May

WILMINGTON, DE - On Tuesday the Wilmington Blue Rocks open up a seven-game, six-day home stand at Frawley Stadium, their longest since late-May. With tons of baseball packed into those six days, the Blue Rocks are happy to announce loads of off-field fun for the whole family, as well. With a country concert, a jersey auction, and a night devoted entirely to the science-fiction classic Star Wars, there is something for everybody to enjoy this week in Wilmington.

On Tuesday, the Blue Rocks and Potomac Nationals open up their four-game series with a double-header beginning at 5:05 p.m. Both games will be played as seven inning affairs with the second contest beginning about a half-hour after the final out of game one. As with every Tuesday at Frawley it is a Two-Riffic Tuesday. Rocks' fans can purchase a Two-Riffic package including two tickets, two hot dogs, and two soft drinks for just $22.

Wednesday on the Riverfront is another Winning Wednesday, presented by Delaware Lottery. Throughout each Wednesday home game in 2015, the Blue Rocks will give away numerous prizes to lucky fans at the ballpark, with each Winning Wednesday featuring different items up for grabs. In addition, if the Blue Rocks win on Wednesday, fans can present their ticket stubs from that contest at the ticket window for a free General Admission ticket to the next Wednesday home game. Wednesday is also Jewish Heritage Night at the Stadium. Along with live bands playing traditional Jewish music, our food special will be the Jewish-deli staple pastrami on rye. The game against the P-Nats is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Craft beer lovers will flock to Frawley on Thursday for another Beer:30 Thursday, presented by Dogfish Head. The local Delaware brewery offers $3 happy-hour Dogfish Head specials on premium craft selections. Thursday is another 6:35 p.m. first pitch with gates opening at 5:30. Happy-hour starts as soon as gates open, but you'll have to get to the ballpark early as the deals only last until 7 p.m.

The Potomac Nationals head out of town after Thursday's contest, but the Salem Red Sox come in for a three-game, weekend series with the Blue Crew. Not only does Friday mark the series opener between the Rocks and the Sox, but the Fur Circus also returns to Frawley Stadium. Rizzo the Ringmaster brings his fuzzy animals to Delaware for a night of entertainment on the Riverfront. Kids can meet the newest Fur Circus characters, including Buddy the blue bear, Myles the dancing monkey, and Splash the whacky elephant. After the game, fans can stick around for a fireworks show, presented by Bank of America. Gates open at 6 p.m. for a 7:05 first pitch.

Saturday is the second game between Wilmington and Salem, but it will also be Frawley Stadium's first ever Star Wars Night, celebrating George Lucas' classic sci-fi saga. Once you enter the ballpark you will receive a complimentary Blue Rocks knit cap, presented by WSFS Bank. Then, you will be whisked to a galaxy far, far away. Several famous Star Wars characters will be making appearances throughout the night, and the players themselves will take part in the festivities. The Blue Crew will be sporting Chewbacca jersey-tops and socks, an ode to everyone's favorite Wookiee. During the contest, the game-worn Chewie jerseys will be auctioned off to fans. Saturday is another 7:05 p.m. start with gates opening at 6 p.m.

Music lovers will not want to miss the game on Wednesday, or the pregame concert from country-sensation Chase Rice. Rice opened for Kenny Chesney on his 2015 Big Revival Tour, and now makes a stop on his solo tour to play for the Frawley Faithful. Gates will open at 2:30 p.m. for a 3:15 concert. After Rice is done serenading the audience, parents and their kids can take part in Sunday Funday activities including a pregame catch on the field and autographs from current Blue Rocks' players on the concourse. First pitch in the series finale is scheduled for 5:05 p.m., but the fun is still just beginning with baseball. After the game, kids can run the bases to conclude Sunday Funday festivities. Once all the youngsters have crossed home plate, the second-annual Diamond Dig, presented by Joseph Janvier Jewelers, will commence. Several lucky fans who signed up during the ballgame will be chosen to head out onto the infield and dig for a diamond buried below the dirt. The first lucky fan to find the diamond gets to take it home.
