Isotopes Beat Fresno 4-3, Split Series

NEED TO KNOW: The Albuquerque Isotopes (61-79) split a four-game series against the Fresno Grizzlies (81-57) Thursday night at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, CA, winning the finale of a four-game series 4-3. Corey Dickerson and Roger Bernadina each turned in two-hit performances.

THE TURNING POINT: Fresno jumped on the board first with a pair of runs in the second inning, but that was nearly all the Grizzlies would produce Thursday night. Albuquerque tied the game with a two-spot in the fourth when Tim Smalling singled in Roger Bernadina and Angelys Nina. Just one inning later, the Isotopes plated two more. Nina doubled in Corey Dickerson to put the Topes in front, and Tommy Murphy drove in Bernadina to give Albuquerque a 4-2 lead. Fresno did add a solo homer in the ninth, but the Isotopes hung on for a 4-3 win.

MOVING LIKE BERNIE: Center fielder Roger Bernadina turned in a 2-for-4 night with two runs scored and a walk. Bernadina now has hits in eight of his last nine games. During that span, he is 13-for-30 with four runs scored, three doubles, a homer, eight RBI and five walks.

SLAMMIN' NINA: Infielder Angelys Nina also picked up a hit in Thursday night's game and now has base knocks in 19 of his last 20 games. He finished the game 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, a walk and an RBI. During that span, Nina is 25-for-80 with eight runs scored, five doubles, a triple, a homer and 13 RBI.

ON DECK: The Isotopes will head to Sacramento to conclude the 2015 season with an 8:05 p.m. first pitch against the River Cats. Albuquerque is scheduled to send left-handed pitcher John Lannan (6-9, 5.34 ERA) to the mound, while Sacramento is slated to go with right-hander Chris Stratton (3-5, 4.01 ERA) on the hill.s

IN THE HOLE: After this four-game set with Fresno, the Isotopes will wrap up the 2015 season with a four-game series at the Sacramento River Cats.
