September 4, 2015

Charlotte, NC --- Blake Snell worked five innings, permitting just two runs to lead Durham to a 9-4 win over the Charlotte Knights on Friday night at BB&T Ballpark.

Snell (W, 6-2), who is in line potentially for multiple national minor league player of the year honors, earned his 15th combined victory in a season that started in High-A for the 22-year-old lefty. Snell completed his final outing with the lowest ERA of any pitcher in the minors at 1.41.

The Knights (73-68), who took a 2-0 lead in the first against Snell, were officially eliminated from South Division contention with the loss.

With the game tied 2-2 in the fifth, Boog Powell homered to right to give the Bulls (72-69) a 3-2 lead. The homer was Powell's second in as many games. Taylor Motter stroked a two-run shot in the seventh to boost the Durham lead to 5-2, his 12th of the season.

Corey Brown drilled a two-run homer in the 9th, his 19th.

The Bulls return home to close out the regular season in the first of three against the first-place Norfolk Tides Saturday night at 6:35 PM ET.
