Blair Brilliant In Gwinnett Victory Over 7-2 Bulls

Lawrenceville, GA --- Aaron Blair pitched seven no-hit innings in leading the Gwinnett Braves by the Durham Bulls 7-2 on Tuesday night at Coolray Field.

Blair (W, 3-0) retired the first 17 Durham batters of the game, then departed after 87 pitches through seven innings. Durham (7-6) was denied its first hits of the game in the seventh on a diving stop by Sean Kazmar at second base and a sliding catch in left field by Ronnier Mustellier.

Jaime Schultz (L, 1-1) matched Blair for two innings before surrendering five straight singles in the third, costing him four runs. Gwinnett (10-3) added three more in the sixth, the final two scoring on a double from Rio Ruiz against reliever Mark Sappington.

The Bulls finally broke through in the eighth when Patrick Leonard drilled a double into the right field corner with two outs against Braves reliever Madison Younginer. After a walk, Carlos Corporan and Dayron Varona each connected for run-scoring singles.

Schultz took the loss, permitting seven runs over 5 2/3 innings.

The series concludes on Wednesday night with Austin Pruitt (1-0, 1.38) starting against Gwinnett's Tyrell Jenkins (1-0, 2.00) at 7:05 PM ET.
