May 23, 2016

FRISCO, TEXAS (May 23, 2016) - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that Frisco RoughRiders right-handed pitcher Jose Leclerc has been promoted to Triple-A Round Rock. In a corresponding move, the RoughRiders have received right-handed pitcher John Fasola from Extended Spring Training.

Leclerc, 22, was a member of the RoughRiders' Opening Day roster and pitched in 10 games for Frisco. After making two starts in April, he transitioned to the bullpen and made eight relief appearances and two starts. Leclerc had an ERA of 7.88 in his two starts but allowed just two earned runs in 14.0 innings of relief, good for a 1.29 ERA. Opponents batted .135 against him in his eight relief outings.

Leclerc was added to the Rangers 40-man roster in November. The Esperanza, Dominican Republic native led Rangers farmhands with 14 saves in 2014 and struck out 32 percent of batters. This year, Leclerc has already totaled 28 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched.

Fasola, 24, has split his time this season between Class A-Advanced High Desert and Triple-A Round Rock. In 11 games (nine with High Desert, two with Round Rock), the righty is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA. The Hudson, Ohio native was a Mid-Season All-Star in each of the last two seasons with Class A Short Season Spokane and Class A Hickory, respectively.

Monday is Education Day at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Large groups of DFW-area school kids will be enjoying the Riders game on their field trip. It is also a Big Money Monday, where select fans in attendance will have the chance to win "Big Money" in various games and contest. One lucky fan will even have the chance to win a big money JACKPOT of up to $25,000 on a game situation or in a game of chance.
