Pokémon Go and Star Wars Night

VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees and Viera Comics have come together to host a weekend filled with fun for the entire family. Friday, July 29 will be Pokémon Go with the Manatees and Saturday, July 30 will be Star Wars Night at the Stadium.

Pokémon Go with the Manatees on July 29 will include the opportunity for fans to win prizes from Viera Comics, battle for their team to take over Space Coast Stadium and join Manatees players on the field following the game to 'Catch 'Em All'.

Upon arrival to the Stadium, Pokémon Go trainers are encouraged to check-in at the Pokémon Go table to receive raffle tickets for Pokémon themed prizes and to register to join the Manatees on the field post game. A lure will be dropped at PokéStops around the Stadium at 5:30pm, and for every 30 check-ins at the concourse table we will continue to drop lures throughout the night.

"This is a great phenomenon and to be able to go on the field and hunt for Pokémon is a great opportunity and I'm happy to be a part of it." Viera Comics owner Peter Pappas said, "It's the job of small business owners to reach out to the community and do fun things."

Fans can earn extra chances at prizes by posting photos of Pokémon at and around the stadium, using #TeesLevelUp. Following the game, those trainers that have registered will join Manatees players on the field.

Trainers that purchase tickets in advance will have the chance to additional prizes courtesy of Viera Comics. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting manateesbaseball.com.

The Force will be strong at Space Coast Stadium on July 30, as the Manatees will host Star Wars Night. Characters from the movie franchise will be on hand to interact with fans, take photos, etc. The night will be themed around Star Wars, with Manatees players wearing Storm Trooper jerseys, Star Wars on-field games and a postgame fireworks show. Fans are also encouraged to dress as their favorite character. Tickets for Star Wars Night can be prepurchased at manateesbaseball.com.

"When I opened up my shop I knew I would want to partner with other businesses to create fun super hero and fantasy events and Star Wars night is a great way to do that!" Pappas said, "Plus I'm a huge baseball fan so it was a no brainer."

Beginning on Monday, July 25 the Manatees Star Wars Night jerseys will be available for bid on manateesbaseball.com. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Brevard Schools Foundation, which will end on Saturday at 11:59pm.
