Barnhart, Hayes Selected as Players of the Month

DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Dragons have announced the winners of the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for May. Fans selected the winners through a voting process at www.daytondragons.com.

Fans selected Tucker Barnhart (hitter) and Drew Hayes (pitcher) as the May Players of the Month.

Barnhart batted a team-leading .329 for the month of May. He added five doubles, two triples, one home run, and seven runs batted in. He is a product of Brownsburg High School in suburban Indianapolis and was selected by the Reds in the 10th round of the 2009 draft.

Hayes appeared in nine games out of the Dragons bullpen in May, posting a 1.46 earned run average. He went 4 for 4 in save opportunities with a 0-0 record. Opposing batters combined to hit .156 against Hayes. He is a product of Vanderbilt University and was selected by the Reds in the 11th round of the 2010 draft.

Both players will appear at the Player of the Month luncheon at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 3rd at Skyline Chili at 1153 Brown Street in Dayton.
