Dragons Barnhart Selected as Rawlings Gold Glover

Dayton, Ohio-Tucker Barnhart, a member of the 2011 Dayton Dragons, has been selected as the catcher on the Rawlings Minor League Baseball Gold Glove team. Only nine players (one per position) from all levels of the minor leagues were selected.

Barnhart was the only Midwest League player selected. He was also the only player from the Cincinnati Reds organization selected.

Barnhart appeared in 97 games with the Dragons in 2011 including 92 at the catcher position. He tied for the best fielding percentage among all catchers in Minor League Baseball (18 leagues) with a mark of .998, committing just two errors.

Barnhart also led the Midwest League in caught stealing percentage by throwing out 47 percent of attempted base stealers. He finished nine percent higher than the second best catcher in the league and 17 percent higher than the league average.

Barnhart, 20, is a native of Brownsburg, Indiana and was selected as Indiana's Mr. Baseball as a high school senior in 2009. He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in 10th round of the 2009 draft. Barnhart batted .273 for the Dragons in 2011 with 24 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 43 runs batted in.
