Olbrychowski Tosses Gem In 5-0 P-Nats Win

Nationals End Dash Nine Game Win Streak

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - Behind a stellar start from Adam Olbrychowski, the P-Nats recorded their first shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over Winston-Salem. Potomac snapped the Dash nine-game win streak thanks in part to another three hit day from David Freitas.

Potomac started the scoring in the second off of Winston-Salem RHP Jake Petricka. David Freitas singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a Zach Walters double. Justin Bloxom knocked a single that scored Freitas and Walters and the P-Nats took their first lead of the series against Winston-Salem 2-0. Potomac added a third in the inning with a Wade Moore single to extend the lead to 3-0.

Again the Nationals scored with one in the fifth. Francisco Soriano led off the inning with a double and got to second on a sac bunt by Randolph Oduber. He scored on a double play hit into by Blake Kelso to give Potomac a 4-0 lead. Petricka (2-3) ended his day after six innings yielding the four earned runs but striking out seven. He took his third loss of the year.

Potomac got a sterling start from RHP Adam Olbrychowski who tossed six and two-third shutout innings striking out five. Olbrychowksi (1-3) got double plays in the third, fourth and fifth innings to get out of jams. Olbrychowski picked up his first win of the season.

The Nationals added a run in the eighth on a RBI double by Kevin Keyes that scored Walters to give the P-Nats a 4-0 lead

Out of the bullpen, Cameron Selik tossed an impressive final two innings of the game. He struck out the first five batters he faced and yielded just one base runner.

The Nationals beat the Dash for the first time in seven tries. The Dash nine-game win streak was snapped by a team that had just eight total wins in 22 coming into tonight. Freitas three hits made it three straight games he's recored three hits in.

Tomorrow Potomac and Winston-Salem finish up a four-game series with a 10:35 AM contest. The Nationals continue their home stand with a three-game series against Wilmington starting Friday. For tickets, please call us at 703-590-2311.
