May 13, 2012
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies dropped the first game of the series 10-1 against the Omaha Storm Chasers on Saturday evening at Chukchansi Park. The loss results in Fresno's first three-game losing streak of the season.

Fresno starting pitcher Brian Burres cruised through the first three innings, allowing only one hit - a double in the second inning with two outs. The fourth inning brewed trouble for Burres, though, when Derrick Robinson hit a leadoff single. Tony Abreu followed with a home run to make it 2-0 Omaha. The Storm Chasers added two more runs in the frame with RBIs by David Lough and Kevin Kouzmanoff.

In the sixth, Anthony Seratelli drove in Lough with a line drive single to center and made it 5-0 Omaha. Seratelli stole second, setting himself up to be driven in by Kouzmanoff one batter later on an RBI triple.

Jean Machi replaced Burres after the left-hander faced the first two batters in the sixth inning. Burres ended the night surrendering five runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings in the losing decision.

The Storm Chasers added four more runs in the eighth to extend their lead to 10-0. Seratelli and Kouzmanoff started the inning with a walk and single, respectively. Cody Clark would drive in Seratelli and advance Kouzmanoff to second. Abreu singled on a grounder past first baseman Todd Linden to drive in Kouzmanoff and Clark, putting the Storm Chasers up 9-0. Former Grizzly Max Ramirez capped the Omaha scoring with an RBI single to score Jason Bourgeois.

Roger Kieschnick broke the Omaha shutout in the bottom of eighth with a single up the middle to plate Francisco Peguero.

Justin Christian led Fresno with three hits, his second consecutive three-hit game.

Omaha starting pitcher Everett Teaford earned the win after allowing no runs and six hits in six innings.

The second game of the scheduled four-game set is on Sunday, May 13th for a 2:05 pm game. The Grizzlies will right-handed pitcher Eric Hacker (5-1, 4.19) to face fellow right-hander Louis Coleman (0-0, 1.23).
