Moye is MWL Pitcher of the Week

May 14, 2012
GRAND CHUTE, WI - Wisconsin Timber Rattlers pitcher Andy Moye had a very good week last week and this week is off to a great start. The Midwest League named Moye their Pitcher of the Week today for his performance last week. Moye is the second Timber Rattler in as many weeks to collect a weekly award from the league.

Moye, the 15th round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2011 draft, appeared in two games between May 7 and May 13 and won both. The right-hander out of Georgia Southern was the starting pitcher in game one of a doubleheader against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on May 7 and tossed five scoreless innings as the Rattlers won 2-0. He came on in relief against Quad Cities on May 11 and again tossed five scoreless innings to earn his third win of the season and lower his ERA to 1.44 in a 5-4 Wisconsin victory.

In his two games last week, Moye allowed four hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out ten.

Timber Rattlers third baseman Greg Hopkins was named the Midwest League Hitter of the Week on May 7.

Moye, Hopkins, and the rest of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers finish up a road trip with day games in Kane County on May 14 and 15 before returning to Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium on Wednesday. Wisconsin hosts Burlington and Kane County from May 16 through May 21 for a six-game homestand.
