(Fort Mill, SC) - Chicago White Sox third baseman Brent Morel, who was placed on the disabled list with a lumbar back strain on May 22 (retroactive to May 18), will continue a Major League rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights at Knights Stadium tonight when the club hosts the Rochester Red Wings in game four of their four-game series.

Morel played for the Knights on Wednesday and went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. He played five full innings at third base.

Morel hit .245 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs for the White Sox in 126 games last season. He hit eight home runs in the month of September last season - tying for third in the American League in home runs for that month. He entered the 2011 season ranked by Baseball America as the second-best prospect in the White Sox system.

This season, the California native has appeared in 35 games for the White Sox and was hitting .177 before being placed on the disabled list.

In 2010, Morel hit .326 for Double-A Birmingham and was promoted to Charlotte later that year and hit .320 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs for the Knights in 81 games. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 2010 as a pinch-hitter for the White Sox. Three days later, Morel collected his first career Major League hit - a home run off of Kansas City pitcher Bruce Chen.
