Rattlers 2008 field staff announced
Terry Pollreisz has been named the Rattlers manager. Entering his 11th season in the Mariners organization, Pollreisz has spent time in nearly every Mariners Minor League affiliate. From 2004-2007, he was the hitting coach for the (Triple-A) Tacoma Rainiers. Prior to that, Pollreisz spent 2002-2003 as a coach with the (then Double-A affiliate) San Antonio Missions, and while he was with (Class A Short-Season) Everett from 1998-2001, he led the AquaSox to their best start in franchise history in 2000 (7-1).
Rafael Santo Domingo will join the Rattlers at the hitting coach. He has spent the past two seasons as a coach in (Class A Advanced) High Desert and 2005 as a coach with the (Rookie-level) Peoria Mariners. Santo Domingo also works as a scout in Puerto Rico, and is responsible for the signings of former Timber Rattlers Rene Rivera and Jeffery Dominguez.
The Rattlers will also receive a new athletic trainer. Matt Toth will join the Rattlers as he enters his third season with the Mariners organization. Toth has also worked in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, from 2000-2003, and the Chicago Cubs organization in 2001.
No pitching coach has been named for the Rattlers at this time.
The new assignments come as the Rattlers former field manager Jim Horner and pitching coach Lance Painter head to (Class A Advanced) High Desert. The Mariners did not renew the contract of former hitting coach Dana Williams or athletic trainer Tim Higgins.
The Rattlers 2008 Home Opener will be on Mon, April 7 at 6:35 p.m. versus the Clinton LumberKings. For a full schedule and the latest information, please log on to www.timberrattlers.com online.
