Bulls Limited To Four Hits In 4-1 Loss To Iron Pigs

June 15, 2012
Allentown, PA --- Kevin Fransden went 4-for-4, while Pat Misch worked six innings of two-hit ball as Lehigh Valley knocked off the Durham Bulls 4-1 before a capacity crowd on Friday night.

Fransden doubled home the tying run in the first against Shane Dyer (L, 1-3) , then singled home a third inning run. In the fifth, Fransden doubled into the left field corner to bring home another Iron Pigs (38-28) run, then capped off his perfect night with a base hit in the eighth.

The Bulls (29-40), coming off a 12-2 victory on Thursday night, assumed a 1-0 lead in the first inning before 10,100 fans when Jeff Keppinger's grounder to second base scored former Iron Pig Rich Thompson. Thompson drilled a single to center on the game's third pitch, was bunted to second and then stole third base.

Durham mustered just four hits in the game, and struggled to dent Misch (W, 4-8), who entered the game winless in his last four starts and with a season-long ERA of 4.91.

Dyer worked his longest Triple-A start, pitching 6 2/3 innings, permitting eight hits and four runs (three earned), walking and striking out two. Jhonny Nunez recorded the final four outs of the game, permitting one hit.

Keppinger was 1-4 in his first game on a major league rehab assignment. Three-time all-star Evan Longoria also was in uniform for the Bulls, and is scheduled to open his rehab on Saturday night.

Game three of the series is at 6:35 PM ET Saturday night with Matt Torra (5-6, 4.77) against Matt Wright (0-0, 3.00).
