Bradley shines in 8-1 Brevard win

Lefty throws seven-inning complete game against Stone Crabs
June 27, 2012

VIERA, Fla. - In the first game of Wednesday's scheduled doubleheader - and the second game of the day - Jed Bradley threw a seven-inning complete game as the Brevard County Manatees routed the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Space Coast Stadium.

Bradley (5-6, 4.68) allowed one earned run on six hits, while walking one and striking out five. Bradley's seven innings of work tied his longest outing of the season and the one earned run he allowed is the fewest he has allowed in a start since April 17.

The southpaw had plenty of run support though as the Manatees' (4-1 second half, 33-40 overall) offense dropped six on the Stone Crabs (2-2, 31-40) in the first inning. Brevard tallied five hits in the inning; with the big blow being a two-out, two-run double by Cody Hawn - his 19th of the season. The 'Tees also pulled off a successful double steal that saw John Dishon take second and Joey Paciorek swipe home plate for a run.

The game remained 6-1 until the bottom of the sixth as Brevard County tacked on two more runs for good measure for Bradley. Nick Shaw scored on a wild pitch after reaching base with a triple and Brock Kjeldgaard drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the other run of the inning.

Shaw and Hawn each had two hits in the game as the 'Tees totaled eight altogether.
