Taco Truck Throwdown Earns Honorable Mention

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies have been recognized by Gameops.com with an Honorable Mention in their 2012 Best Game Promotion award category for Taco Truck Throwdown 2. The Best Game Promotion from Gameops.com judges based on creativity, entertainment value, media exposure, drawing power, and execution of the operations. Taco Truck Throwdown 2, presented by FresnoBeehive.com, FresnoTacos.com, CBS 47 and Q97, was held on August 30th at Chukchansi Park. Over 11,000 people indulged in tacos from 13 different mobile food trucks, eating a combined 14,550 tacos throughout the evening.

"During the night of Taco Truck Throwdown 2, we knew it was something special. The atmosphere and energy created by the fans and taco trucks provided the enjoyable setting for people to enjoy some local tacos and Grizzlies baseball in one place."

This is not the first time Gameops.com has honored the Fresno Grizzlies. In 2008, the Grizzlies were given the award for Best Game Entertainment, and in 2007, Grizzlies mascot Parker was named Best Mascot, beating out all other major and minor league mascots. Parker also earned an honorable mention for Best Mascot by Gameops.com in 2009.

Taco Truck Throwdown 2 was also nominated for Promo of the Year by MiLB.com earlier this fall. The Grizzlies are the only Minor League Baseball organization to be nominated for MiLB.com's Promo of the Year award for each of the last six years.

Taylor University and their Silent Night game promotion won the GameOps.com award for Best Game Promotion this year. The Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League was also given an Honorable Mention in the category for their Backwards Night.
