Offensive Players of the Week

International League
Andy Tracy, Lehigh Valley
.526 (10-19), 5 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, 0 SB, 1.316 SLG
Tracy did most of his damage at the end of last week, with all 10 of his hits coming between Thursday and Sunday. Seven of those went for extra bases, including four home runs. The 34-year-old veteran first baseman went 4-for-5 Thursday in Rochester with two doubles, a long ball and three runs driven in. Tracy followed it up with three more hits the next night against Buffalo, including another double, a home run and two more RBIs. He closed the week out with a bang Sunday, going 2-for-4 with both hits leaving the yard. Tracy is now batting .299 on the season for the IronPigs, with 21 home runs and 82 RBIs.

Pacific Coast League
Micah Hoffpauir, Iowa
.444 (12-27), 11 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, 0 SB, 1.111 SLG
It's the second time this season Hoffpauir has taken home Player of the Week honors in the PCL, and the first baseman could have won the award based solely on his performance Saturday in Round Rock. The left-handed hitter slugged solo home runs in his first four at-bats to tie a franchise record. He also became just the fifth player in PCL history and first in a decade to hit four long balls in one night. As if that weren't enough, Hoffpauir was in the middle of a triple play in the first inning, helping Iowa escape a jam. The rest of his week wasn't too shabby, either, as the Fort Worth native had a 13-game hitting streak that included five consecutive two-hit contests and a 3-for-5 night in Friday's series opener in Round Rock. Hoffpauir raised his season average to .367 with 19 homers and 78 RBIs.

Eastern League
Casper Wells, Erie
.414 (12-29), 13 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 3 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, 1.069 SLG
Wells couldn't quite match Hoffpauir's achievement, but he came close Tuesday against Harrisburg. The 23-year-old outfielder smacked three home runs against the Senators that night, propelling the SeaWolves to an 11-2 win. Wells tied a career-high with five RBIs in the contest. He wasn't done for the week, though, as the Grand Rapids native had four more hits two nights later in Reading with two more runs driven in. He hit a home run in each of the next two games against the Phillies to cap the week with five long balls and 11 RBIs, lifting his average to .288 on the year.

Southern League
Alcides Escobar, Huntsville
.444 (12-27), 5 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB, 5 SO, 4 SB, .667 SLG
There's a reason Milwaukee refused to part with Escobar around the trade deadline, and the shortstop illustrated it last week for Huntsville. He had at least one hit in all seven games he played, highlighted by a 4-for-6 game Sunday at West Tenn, and now leads all Minor League players with 164 hits. He had four two-hit contests, one of which included his eighth home run of the season Monday versus Mississippi. The 21-year-old also displayed his speed on the basepaths, swiping three bags Wednesday against the Diamond Jaxx without being caught. For the season, Escobar is hitting .343 with eight homers, 67 RBIs and 31 stolen bases.

Texas League
Corey Smith, Arkansas
.409 (9-22), 7 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 6 RBI, 2 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, 1.227 SLG
Smith had as big a power surge as anyone last week, smacking six home runs in a four-game stretch Sunday to Thursday. He belted two against Northwest Arkansas Monday to knock in three runs, and then hit three homers over the next two nights in Corpus Christi. The New Jersey native could use a little help from the guys in front of him in the lineup, as the three long balls against the Hooks were all solo shots. For the season, the third baseman now has 22 homers -- good for second in the league -- and 73 RBIs to go along with a .267 average for the Travelers.

California League
Christopher Carter, Stockton
.476 (10-21), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 2 BB, 6 SO, 0 SB, 1.190 SLG
Carter had a consistent week for the Ports. Six starts, five two-hit games, with a home run in each of those five. The 21-year-old started the week with a solo shot Tuesday versus Modesto before suffering his lone hitless performance the next night. He closed the week with four straight two-hit games, all of which included a big fly. Carter racked up 10 RBIs in those four contests, giving him a league-leading 97 on the season for the Ports. The outfielder's 34 home runs also lead the California League, with his closest competitor eight long balls back.

Carolina League
Tyler Flowers, Myrtle Beach
.556 (10-18), 7 R, 5 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 BB, 1 SO, 1 SB, 1.333 SLG
Flowers now has an eight-game hitting streak after picking up a base knock in all five games he started for Myrtle Beach last week. His best effort came Monday against Kinston, when the catcher was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs for the Pelicans in a lopsided 17-2 win. He had two hits and an RBI each of the next two nights before hitting another home run as part of a three-hit day in Lynchburg Saturday. Flowers has an RBI in each of his last six starts and now has 75 on the season, tied for third in the league with teammate Ernesto Mejia.

Florida State League
Juan Francisco, Sarasota
.379 (11-29), 10 R, 1 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 12 RBI, 3 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, .931 SLG
Francisco extended his hitting streak to eight games, with 11 hits in seven starts last week for Sarasota. The 21-year-old has an RBI in eight straight contests, as well, including back-to-back three-RBI nights against Fort Myers Friday and Saturday. He hit a home run in each of the three games against the Miracle after belting two long balls in the previous series with Dunedin. The outfielder now has 20 home runs and 85 RBIs on the season, both good for third in the league.

Midwest League
Timothy Smith, Clinton
.417 (10-24), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 4 SO, 7 SB, .750 SLG
Smith now has a 10-game hitting streak that includes all six games he played in for the LumberKings last week. The outfielder had four two-hit games for good measure, with solo home runs Tuesday against Wisconsin and Saturday in Quad Cities. Those accounted for Smith's only two RBIs for the week, but he did cross the plate seven times with the help of seven stolen bases without being caught. The Toronto native has 19 thefts on the season while batting .297 with eight long balls and 55 runs driven in.

South Atlantic League
Steffan Wilson, West Virginia
.600 (15-25), 11 R, 0 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 3 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, .920 SLG
Wilson took advantage of cellar-dwelling division opponent Hickory last week, racking up 12 hits, two home runs and seven RBI in a four-game sweep of the Crawdads. He went 3-for-4 in the opener Thursday before crafting back-to-back four-hit games over the weekend. He had a home run and four RBIs Saturday with another long ball and two more runs driven in Sunday. Wilson didn't limit his production to the series with Hickory, though, as he also had a 3-for-5 game Monday against Delmarva. The third baseman out of Harvard is batting .298 with 18 homers and 86 RBIs on the year for the Power.
Curt Rindal, West Virginia
.550 (11-20), 11 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 4 BB, 2 SO, 1 SB, 1.000 SLG
Rindal was providing the backup for Wilson in that sweep of Hickory, collecting nine hits, two home runs and 11 RBIs himself in the four-game set. The first baseman had three hits and three RBIs in the opener Thursday, two more hits and a home run Friday, three hits Saturday, and another homer Sunday to go along with four runs driven in. Rindal raised his average to .261 in the process. With Wilson and Rindal leading the lineup, the Power outscored the Crawdads 47-11in the sweep.

Appalachian League
Juan Fuentes, Pulaski
.520 (13-25), 4 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 5 BB, 4 SO, 0 SB, .720 SLG
Fuentes continues to anchor the lineup for the first-place Mariners, as he extended his hitting streak to eight games last week by hitting safely in all seven contests he started. The catcher knocked in at least one run in five of those games, with three consecutive two-RBI nights at the start of the week. That stretch included the Venezuelan's second home run of the season Tuesday against Johnson City and a three-hit game the next day. Fuentes had three more base hits Saturday in Bluefield, raising his average to .383 on the year.

Pioneer League
Travis Vetters, Ogden
.650 (13-20), 5 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO, 0 SB, 1.150 SLG
After being sent down from the Midwest League, Vetters has been near-impossible to get out. In 17 games for the Raptors, he's batting .456 with five home runs and 27 RBIs. He improved on all those number last week, with 13 hits and 13 RBIs in just four games. Vetters was 4-for-4 Tuesday at Idaho Falls and followed it up by going 3-for-5 against Missoula Thursday with a first-inning grand slam and a total of seven RBIs. He collected three more hits in each of his next two games, including another long ball and four more RBIs Sunday against Helena.

New York-Penn League
Kyeong Kang, Hudson Valley
.480 (12-25), 4 R, 5 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, 0 SB, .880 SLG
Kang has hit in seven straight games and nine of his last 10 and batted .480 in six starts last week. The South Korea native was 2-for-4 Monday in Aberdeen with a double and triple before going 6-for-10 with three doubles and four RBIs in the first two games of a series with Vermont. Kang finished the week in style at Lowell, blasting his fourth home run of the season to lift the Renegades to a 4-0 victory.

Northwest League
Michael Ambort, Salem-Keizer
.478 (11-23), 6 R, 3 2B, 0 3B, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 1 BB, 5 SO, 0 SB, 1.130 SLG
Ambort had himself a week's worth of offense and one of the best games in the Northwest League all season Friday night, going 4-for-5 with three home runs and six RBIs in the Volcanoes' 9-6 win at Boise. The 23-year-old was just a grand slam short of the home run cycle, as he hit a two-run bomb in the fourth, a three-run shot in the seventh and a solo homer in the ninth for Salem-Keizer. It was his second breakout performance of the series, as Ambort opened the four-game set by going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, as well. The New York native is hitting .323 on the year.
