Cole's award is the fourth for the P-Nats this season
May 6, 2013

Woodbridge, VA-- After turning in his best start of the season on May 3rd, P-Nats RHP A.J. Cole was named the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Week (April 29th- May 5th).

Cole pitched six innings, striking out nine while surrendering only four hits, all singles, and walking none. He gave up no earned runs against Myrtle Beach to pick up his first win of the season.

Cole, 21, is back in the Nationals system after being traded to the Oakland Athletics in Dec. 2011. The Nationals re-acquired Cole in the three-team deal that sent Michael Morse to the Seattle Mariners in January. The Winter Springs, FL, native is ranked as the fourth prospect in the Washington Nationals system by Baseball America.

Cole is 1-1 on the 2013 season, with a 3.94 ERA over six games. In 32 innings pitched, he has struck out 34 batters, which is the second highest for the P-Nats.
