Mark Hamilton honored as I.L. Player of the Week

The International League announced today that Pawtucket first baseman/designated hitter Mark Hamilton and Indianapolis pitcher Andy Oliver have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from May 6-12. Hamilton is the first PawSox player to win an IL weekly award this season, while Oliver is the second member of the Indians to be so honored (Brett Carroll, April 8-14).

Mark Hamilton hit safely in all seven games this week, leading the International League with four home runs and a 1.000 slugging percentage and helping the PawSox to a six-game winning streak along the way. He was also tied for 2nd in the IL with 10 RBI and 3rd with seven runs scored. Hamilton drove in a run in each of Pawtucket's victories, including a 3-RBI effort in Thursday's 14-9 win over Gwinnett. He now has 27 RBI on the season, the 3rd-best mark in the League. 28-year-old Mark Hamilton is in his eighth professional season and first with the Red Sox organization after signing as a free agent in January. Hamilton is a veteran of 47 Major League games with the St. Louis Cardinals between 2010-11. Hamilton is a native of Baltimore, Maryland.
