Lindor, Cecchini among Carolina stars
The Carolina League will send some of its brightest talent to San Jose on June 18 when the circuit battles its West Coast counterpart in the 2013 Carolina-California League All-Star Game.
The All-Stars, announced Friday by Carolina League president John Hopkins, will travel to San Jose for the annual interleague event. Lynchburg's field staff, anchored by manager Luis Salazar, will lead the squad at Municipal Stadium.
Among the starters are Indians No. 1 prospect Francisco Lindor of Carolina and Red Sox No. 8 prospect Garin Cecchini of Salem. Myrtle Beach will send a large group to California, with pitchers Luke Jackson, Alec Asher and Nick Martinez joining second baseman Roughned Odor and infielder Luis Sardinas on the roster.
Potomac's Billy Burns, Lynchburg's Robby Hefflinger and Carolina's Tyler Naquin were voted starters in the outfield while Winston-Salem's Jeremy Farrell will serve as the DH.
Cecchini leads the league with a .356 average while Hefflinger tops the circuit with 16 homers. Farrell's 41 RBIs lead the league, and Naquin sits atop the leaderboard with 73 hits.
