The Fans Chose Chase

(TRENTON, NJ) MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball, announced today that the Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, earned their second and third MiLBY Awards of the year as they were named the winner of "Promo of the Year" and "Mascot Clip of the Year." 
 
The Thunder earned "Promo of the Year" award for the Retirement Party for team bat dog Chase That Golden Thunder. The celebration of the life of the 13-year-old Golden Retreiver included a Chase bobblehead doll giveaway at the entrances to ARM & HAMMER Park and hundreds of dogs in attendance. Chase had several relatives on hand - including son Derby and Grandson Chief - for a special ceremony on the field. The pre-game event included a video tribute, goodbyes from Thunder players and a touching farewell round of applause. PHOTOS
 
Chase That Golden Thunder was also the focus of the MiLBY Award winning "Mascot Clip of the Year." The roughly four minute video was shown to the crowd of 6,090 as part of Chase's Retirement Party then viewed thousands more times online as it was shared by fans and news outlets around the world.
