Power's quick start leads to win over Legends
Greg Picart led off the game with a walk, and came around to score on a double to right center field by Robbie Grossman. A walk and a fielder's choice put runners at first and third, and Jeremy Farrell doubled to score two runs and give the Power a 3-0 lead.
In the second inning, Adenson Chourio was hit by a pitch. Greg Picart singled, and Tony Sanchez followed with a two-run double to make the score 5-0.
Brian Pellegrini led off the bottom of the second inning with his 20th home run of the year for Lexington. It was his 41st as a Legend, adding to his career record. He has 127 RBIs for Lexington, 15 short of the record held by Ramon German.
The Power added to the lead in the fourth. Picart walked to lead off, and two outs later, Kyle Morgan was hit by a pitch. Quincy Lattimore followed with a two-run triple, and the Power led 7-1.
West Virginia added single runs in the fifth and ninth. Lexington's other run came in the seventh when Pellegrini doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Steve Brown's sacrifice fly.
West Virginia starter Quinton Miller (2-3) was the winning pitcher. Brad Dydalewicz (7-5) was the loser.
The two teams will play again Thursday night at Applebee's Park. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
The Legends made a roster move before the game. Outfielder Jay Austin was placed on the disabled list due to a hamstring injury. Outfielder Russell Dixon, who was with Lexington in 2008 and started the season with the Legends in 2009, was called up from Tri-City of the New York-Penn League.
