New 2014 uniform look for Wings

Home, Sunday uniforms unveiled
March 28, 2014

The Rochester Red Wings introduced new home and Sunday uniforms to be worn during the 2014 season on Friday, March 28. The Wings previously unveiled a brand-new set of logos back in early November.

"While our old uniforms and logos certainly served us well, our new home jersey is a classic, timeless look and we couldn't be more excited to show them off in 2014," said Red Wings President/CEO/COO Naomi Silver. "I have no doubt that these new uniforms will be a real hit with our players, fans and the entire Rochester community."

The new all-white home uniforms with black trim and black piping down the pants features the "Red Wings" word mark scripted across the chest in red. Emblazoned on the left sleeve is the new-look Spikes, who now glares across his colossal left arm with a ferocious look while holding a bat over his shoulder. Players' numbers can also be found on the lower, left side on the front of the jerseys. The new home cap features the fierce stare of Spikes on a black cap with a red bill. These new home uniforms, manufactured by Rawlings, will be worn Monday through Saturday at Frontier Field.

"The Red Wings franchise has a long lineage of iconic uniforms and today I think we added to that list with our new home uniform," said Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason. "We're excited to showcase these new uniforms in just a few short days."

On Sundays at Frontier Field, the Wings will wear a black, mesh-style jersey with red trim that features the vicious stare of Spikes on the left chest. Players' numbers can also be found on the right, front side of the Russell-made jersey in red with black trim. The Sunday jerseys will be paired with a red, polyester, moisture-wicking hat with a black bill adorned with a white, script letter "R" outlined in black. This uniform will also serve as the Red Wings batting practice ensemble.

The Red Wings' classic, gray road uniforms with the block-letter "Rochester" across the front will remain unchanged for the 2014 season; however, the team will wear a new road cap that is reminiscent of the hat worn by the Wings over the last 17 seasons at Frontier Field. The red hat with a black bill includes the new look Spikes, with an "R" on his chest, holding a baseball bat horizontally across both shoulders.

The Wings also unveiled the players' new official work out gear as well as the team jacket and knit cap.

Both new jerseys will be available for purchase in the Team Store by next week. All three of the Red Wings' new hats are available for purchase now. The team store is open Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Click here to purchase new Red Wings logo merchandise in our online Team Store.

The Red Wings' new logos were designed by Dan Simon and his team at Studio Simon based in Louisville, KY. Simon has worked with hundreds of sports organizations across the country, including several other minor league baseball teams, to develop new brand identities.

The Wings will debut their new uniforms on April 5 when they open up Frontier Field for an 18th season with a 2:05 p.m. matinee against the Buffalo Bisons.
