Gulbransen slam ties game in big comeback

Gulbransen ties game with grand slam as JetHawks take series finale

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks erased a 5-0 deficit with a five-run sixth inning to come back and beat the Inland Empire 66ers, 6-5, in the series finale on Memorial Day at The Hangar.

Dan Gulbransen had the big hit, a grand slam to tie the game in the sixth.

Carlos Correa led off the inning with a single and was promptly doubled home by Rio Ruiz. Carlos Perdomo followed by reaching on an error and Danry Vasquez singled to load the bases. Inland Empire brought in Michael Smith from the bullpen to face Gulbransen. The slam was Gulbransen's second home run of the season.

Lancaster took the lead in the eighth inning when Vasquez led off with a single against Jairo Diaz (2-3). Gulbransen sacrificed him up to second base and Roberto Peña followed with the go-ahead single.

Daniel Minor (4-1) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to earn the win.

Vasquez tied a personal season-high going 4-for-4 with two runs scored.

Gonzalo Sanudo got the start for the JetHawks and allowed two home runs to put them in an early hole. Joe Weik hit a two-run shot in the second inning and Zach Wright hit a three-run homer in the third. Sanudo allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings.

The JetHawks (30-22) remained two games behind Lake Elsinore (32-20) with the win and travel to The Diamond to take on the Storm for three games start Tuesday. Kyle Westwood will start against Joe Ross. First pitch is 6:05 p.m.
