JetHawks close half with loss to Quakes

Lancaster finishes first half with franchise best 44-26 record

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks concluded the first half of the season with a 9-3 loss to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Saturday night at The Hangar.

The club finished with a franchise-best first half record of 44-26.

The Quakes (32-38) jumped on the board in the first inning against starter Kyle Westwood (5-4). Rob Garvey doubled and scored on a Jon Garcia single.

Lancaster tied it up with a Dan Gulbransen bases loaded walk against Quakes starter Chris Anderson (4-5). The JetHawks scored their first run without a hit. Anderson walked three and hit a batter in the second inning.

Rancho Cucamonga took the lead for good in the third inning. Aaron Miller tripled home Brandon Dixon before scoring on a Garcia single. Steven Proscia doubled home Garcia to put the Quakes ahead 4-1.

Conrad Gregor attempted to get Lancaster back into the game with an RBI- single in the third inning but he was left aboard with the JetHawks trailing 4-2.

Proscia homered against Kent Emanuel to extend the Quakes lead in the fifth and they added three unearned runs on a Tyler Ogle three-run shot against J.D. Osborne in the seventh.

Garcia put the final run on the board with a solo home run off of Daniel Minor in the ninth.

Lancaster picked up its final run when Jobduan Morales scored on a Robert Rogers wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

The JetHawks will be off for four days during the California League All-Star Break. They return to action on June 19 at Lake Elsinore.
