Eight-Game Homestand Begins on National Television
CHARLESTON, SC - After the brief South Atlantic League All-Star Break concludes, the Charleston RiverDogs will host an eight-game homestand at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park from Thursday, June 19 through Thursday, June 26 as Charleston hosts the Kannapolis Intimidators and Savannah Sand Gnats for a pair of four-game series. The homestand opener will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network while the 15thAnnual Kindness Beats Blindness auction is set for Saturday, June 21.
Thursday, June 19, 7:05 pm: This contest will be the Minor League Baseball Game of the Week and will air on the CBS Sports Network. It is also another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by 95SX, with $1 drafts and DJ Natty Heavy in the Ashley View Pub. Wild Wing Café sponsors a wing-eating contest in the Ashley View Pub as well. All active or retired military personnel and their families can buy $1 tickets to the game with a military ID. RiverDogs radio broadcaster Sean Houston is partnering with Play It Again Sports of Mt. Pleasant to call the entire game while walking on a treadmill that will be located behind home plate. The Beach Queens, the eight honorees from the Queen of Folly Beach and Edisto Beach pageants, will make appearances at Thursday's game. There is also a Barefoot wine sampling near the Beer Garden. Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green also are sponsoring a postgame concert by Mozo adjacent to the Beer Garden. Mozo features its unique Beach-Hop style that is influenced by reggae, pop and hip hop.
Friday, June 20, 7:05 pm: ISHPI Red Shirt Friday, presented by 103.5 WEZL, is - as expected - filled with fun. Wear red to the game and save $1 off your ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to Canines for Veterans and Folds of Honor. The RiverDogs will wear their red jerseys and enjoy the services of Titus the Wonder Dog, who will serve as a "bat dog" for an inning. Zombie Apocalypse Night, courtesy of Charleston rUNdead 5K, features a game of "Zombie Tag" before the baseball game (pre-registration is online at zombietag.eventbrite.com). Dress up as a zombie and be a part of the horde or come as a normal human and risk being contaminated. Fans may also visit the Ashley View Pub for $3 Aluminum Pint Night from Miller and Coors. Patriots Point Night is also on tap for Friday. Plus, be sure to stick around after the game for another beautiful postgame fireworks display over the scenic Ashley River.
Saturday, June 21, 6:05 pm: During Saturday's game, fans can participate in the annual silent auction that is billed as "Kindness Beats Blindness" as proceeds benefit the Medical University of South Carolina's Storm Eye Institute and its ongoing efforts to find a cure for Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). Social Media Saturday offers fans the chance to make requests to the RiverDogs on Facebook and Twitter for music, promotions and other game features. Girl Scouts from all around the Lowcountry will be on-hand to enjoy Girl Scout Night, and the RiverDogs are also celebrating North Charleston Night at The Joe. All kids will have an opportunity to run the bases after the game ends.
Sunday, June 22, 5:05 pm: CCPRC and Crews Subaru Kids Club Sunday, sponsored by Y102.5, includes a coupon for all children to receive a free hot dog, fountain drink and chips during our Kids Eat Free, courtesy of Pepsi. Parking is also free on Sunday, and all members of Charlie's Kids Club get into the game for free. Pregame catch on the field and postgame autographs with the RiverDogs are also available for all fans. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game for the final Dog Day of the season. The RiverDogs will host Jewish Heritage Night, including the singing of the Israeli National Anthem. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Charleston Jewish Community's Kosher Food Pantry. Charleston will wear its slick seersucker uniforms on Seersucker Sunday. Fans that wear seersucker to the game can save $1 off their ticket purchase at the box office or donate that dollar to the Preservation Society of Charleston and the Historic Charleston Foundation. Also, be sure to stop by the RiverDogs' new meat smoker to enjoy some food prepared by one the Lowcountry Food Bank's chefs for the continuation of our celebrity "Smokin' Chef" series.
Monday, June 23, 7:05 pm: Coors and Z93 Jamz are presenting Dollar Dogs and Beers Night as $1 hot dogs and $1 drafts will be available in the Ashley View Pub. The RiverDogs are also hosting "Dogs with a Cause" on Monday night to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County.
Tuesday, June 24, 7:05 pm: Couples can receive a great deal at the park on Harris Teeter 2-for-$20 Date Night Tuesday from Nash FM. Any pair of fans can show a VIC Card at the box office to receive two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks and a nacho tray for only $20. It is also Terrible Tuesday with long lines, lousy in-game entertainment and awful music. Dissatisfaction is guaranteed.
Wednesday, June 25, 7:05 pm: HealthSouth Senior Wednesday, courtesy of MeTV, provides a food voucher for all senior citizens (age 65 & older) that enter The Joe before 7 pm. The voucher covers a free hot dog, a bag of chips and a 16-ounce fountain drink. All fans can also partake in an Early Bird Special until 7 pm that includes a hot dog, a basket of fries and a fountain drink for just $6. "Dogs with a Cause" will support SC Advocates for Epilepsy. It is also a Guaranteed Wins-Day, so if the RiverDogs are not victorious, all fans in attendance may use their tickets to get into the next Wednesday home game for free.
Thursday, June 26, 7:05 pm: The homestand concludes with another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by 95SX. The Ashley View Pub will be hosting $1 drafts and DJ Natty Heavy. Wild Wing Café will also sponsor another wing-eating contest in the Ashley View Pub. South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal will deliver a pregame presentation at 4 pm on Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Night. The RiverDogs are also hosting a World Cup Celebration on Thursday in line with USA's final group match against Germany. Cane Creek String Band, which plays Old Time Appalachian Music, is scheduled to perform a postgame concert adjacent to the Beer Garden, and is presented by Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green.
This homestand opens the second half of the RiverDogs season, which includes 35 home games at Riley Park that runs through the end of August.
