Lee, Andriese Pave Way; Bulls Down Pawtucket, 5-3

Durham Avoids Sweep, Starts Off July With Win
July 1, 2014

Pawtucket, RI --- Hak-Ju Lee delivered three hits including a homer, while Matt Andriese notched his staff-tying eighth win as Durham eluded a four-game sweep with a 5-3 win over Pawtucket on Tuesday night.

Lee opened the first inning with a single to ignite a four-run frame as the Bulls (46-41) jumped on Rubby DeLaRosa (L, 2-4) in his first outing since facing Oakland 10 days ago. Mike Fontenot singled Lee home, then a Jeremy Moore double clubbed against the centerfield wall brought in the second run of the inning. A wild pitch scored a third before Wilson Betemit lifted a sacrifice fly to put the Bulls ahead 4-0 before Andriese threw his first pitch.

Unlike Saturday night when the Bulls raced to a 4-0 lead in the first, this time the lead held up. Andriese worked into the seventh inning, permitting two solo homers to Corey Brown as the Bulls took down their North Division nemesis for the first time in four games.

Lee and Fontenot each had three hits, with Robby Price chipping in two to lead the 13-hit Bulls assault.

CJ Riefenhauser retired the two batters he faced before Josh Lueke (S, 1) registered his first save of the season. Lueke recorded five outs and retired Alex Hassan on a flyball to left as the winning run in the last of the ninth.

Durham, which defeated Pawtucket (45-42) for the 2013 Governor's Cup championship, lost the season series to the PawSox 5-3.

The Bulls return home on Wednesday night against second place Gwinnett at 7:05 PM ET. Mike Montgomery (8-1, 3.28) starts against Yunesky Maya (3-1, 2.17) in the opener of a four-game, home-and-home series at the DBAP.
