Senators' Comeback Comes Up Short

Vettleson adds multi-extra base hit game
August 26, 2014

The Harrisburg Senators almost erased a four-run deficit but fell short in a 6-4 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night.

Drew Vettleson was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, his eighth of the season, and a double. The lefty's long bomb to center field in the fourth inning was Harrisburg's first run. In the seventh inning, with New Hampshire leading 5-1, the Senators loaded the bases with a Mitch Canham single, an Adrian Sanchez walk and a single by Caleb Ramsey. Quincy Latimore followed with an RBI single. The next batter, Matt Skole grounded into a force out, but picked up an RBI as Sanchez crossed home. Following Vettleson's double in the eighth, Cole Leonida picked up a two-out RBI with a run-scoring single.

Once again, Paolo Espino went deep into the ball game, but New Hampshire scored a pair of runs in the first and third innings. The Fisher Cats also got to Espino for a single tally in the fifth and eighth innings. Espino's final line was 7.2 innings, nine hits, six earned runs and eight strikeouts. Tyler Herron picked up the final out of the eighth inning.

The third game of a four-game set starts tomorrow night at 6:35 in New Hampshire with Harrisburg's Zach Kroenke taking on the Fisher Cats' Casey Lawrence.
The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 6:20 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
