Durham Righty Tagged For Seven In Loss

Lawrenceville, GA --- In their final regular season matchup, the South Division champion Durham Bulls were clubbed by the Gwinnett Braves 8-1 at Coolray Field on Wednesday night.

Alex Colome (L, 7-6) surrendered seven runs (five earned) over 5 2/3 innings as the Braves (62-76) beat the Bulls (71-67) for just the ninth time in 21 meetings.

Gwinnett scored a third inning run against Colome on a two-out double by Christian Bethancourt to bring home Todd Cunningham, who had walked. The Braves tacked on two in the fourth and one in the fifth before putting the game away with three in the sixth. Brandon Boggs hooked a two-run double into the right field corner to highlight the frame.

Meanwhile, Cody Martin (W, 7-8) one-hit the Bulls through six innings before Mikie Mahtook drove out his 10th homer of the season, a solo blast to left field.

Cole Figueroa had two of the four hits for the Bulls, who struck out 14 times against three Braves pitchers.

The Bulls were outscored 15-2 in the two contests at Coolray Field.

Durham's final road trip of the regular season relocates to its final destination on Thursday night with Mike Montgomery (9-5, 4.24) taking the Harbor Park mound against Norfolk's Steve Johnson (0-1, 6.88) at 7:05 PM ET.
